Song background:

I love the traditional Christmas song "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen". While I love the minor key of the original tune, I wanted to find an arrangement that was in a major key. I looked but could not find one (but maybe I didn't look hard enough). So I decided to arrange my own. And as I was arranging the piece I kept thinking how I wanted to arrange an Easter song for my next piece. Then I realised with a few tweaks of the lyrics, this could be an Easter song. So here it is, a little unconventional, but that's just the way I am. I present to you an Easter God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen for a four part choir. I hope you love it just as much as I do and it brings joy when you sing and hear it.

Lyrics: God rest ye merry Gentlemen <br/>Let nothing you dismay <br/>Remember Christ our Savior <br/>Was ris'n on Easter Day <br/>To save us all from Satan's pow'r <br/>When we were gone astray <br/>O Tidings of Comfort and Joy <br/> <br/>From God our Heavenly Father <br/>A blessed Angel came <br/>And welcomed home our Savior <br/>His tomb He broke away. <br/>And though He died on Calvary <br/>He lives to sing God's praise <br/>O tidings of Comfort and Joy <br/> <br/>Comfort, Comfort and Joy <br/>Praise we sing to our Lord and King <br/>O Comfort, Comfort and Joy <br/>This day to the world our Savior brings. <br/> <br/>Now in the garden Mary weeps <br/>Her Savior He is missed. <br/>His tomb is an abandon home. <br/>O who has robbed His crypt? <br/>"Why seekest thou" the Gardner said <br/>"The living 'mongst the dead? <br/>I'm your Savior of Comfort and Joy." <br/> <br/>Comfort, Comfort and Joy <br/>Praise we sing to our Lord and King <br/>O Comfort, Comfort and Joy <br/>This day to the world our Savior brings. <br/> <br/>Now to the Lord sing praises <br/>All you within this place. <br/>And with true love and brotherhood <br/>Each other now embrace. <br/>The Holy tide of Easter <br/>All other doth deface <br/>O tidings of Comfort and Joy <br/>O tidings of Comfort and Joy <br/>
