More about Drue Allred:
Hello! I started violin when I was 8 years old. I’m not going to lie, I hated it, but my mom didn’t let me give up and I’m so thankful for that. I have been classically trained all my life, and once I was old enough to start things on my own, I got into a lot of classic rock and funk. Now don’t get me wrong... I still play classical music because I feel it is essential to everyday life. However, sometimes it’s fun to go off on my own. I am attending Berklee College of Music. I write and arrange music! Especially for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
There are 2 songs in the church that are hands down my favorite songs
The first one being You Raise Me Up. If you don’t already know the first verse, I ask listen for it and think of these words:
When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary
When troubles come and my heart burdened be
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence
Until You come and sit awhile with me.
The second song being Amazing Grace. I first played this song at my friends funeral. I realized then that this song can be more than what it is. I use Chris Tomlin’s version, he has an added chorus, and although there’s no singing today, I think it’d be beautiful if you could maybe hear the chorus that says:
My chains are gone, I've been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy reigns
Unending love, Amazing grace
I think these two songs compliment each other in a very powerful way.
I feel the spirit most through music. So I’ve arranged these 2 songs together, in hopes that you can feel the spirit through them as much as I do.
