More about Holly Boyd:
Holly studied voice and piano for six years in her youth and loved sitting with her sister, Wendy, at the piano to sing hymns and broadway music. She graduated with a master's degree in accounting from Brigham Young University. She presently focuses on raising her three children and creating a home where the Spirit can dwell. Uplifting music is an important part of her effort, and so she regularly thinks about poetic ways to communicate messages that she hopes to remember and teach to her children. She is grateful Wendy Jensen captures her lyrics in original musical settings that she loves singing around the home and sharing with others.
Song background:

When I received disappointing news, I felt numb with a broken heart. After all, I had sacrificed, prayed, and acted in faith for a different outcome. Resentment, fear, and regret were my natural reactions.

But fortunately, my broken heart was filled as I gave it to Christ. In my transformation, the scriptures, apostles, and Spirit taught me to trust, think gratefully, endure, and obey. Peace filled my life, and I moved forward with energy, gratitude, and hope for a future in Christ’s hands as I continued to trust and obey Him.

I wanted to remember these principles, and I memorialized them in these verses, rooted in tree imagery because it could be a prevalent reminder for how to react to trials.

This piece seeks to inspire faithful endurance. It teaches specifically how we can choose to be happy and grateful, even during times of trial and “of peace and the positive assurance that a loving Father will keep His promises,” (Elder Richard G. Scott, “Trust in the Lord,” October 1995).
