The lyrics for this hymn are new as of the 2001 edition of the French version of the LDS hymnal. To get an English translation, I ran the French lyrics through Google Translate and then began devising adjustments to get them to fit.

The French command "remember thou" (souviens-toi) just did not fit the rhythms of the music, so I replaced it with "don't forget";
"wonderful present" became "precious one so dear";
"because for you the veil of forgetting is light (thin)" became "while your eyes, thru the veil, yet percieve that place";
"imagine them" became "picture them";
"the colors of the meadows" became "the glades and their colors swirled";
because there wasn't enough space, "forgotten world" first became "unseen world" and finally "hidden world";
and "playing in the wind" became "playing in that clime".

Even though most of this English translation is my adaptions of Google Translate's results, I list this as a composite translation because I borrowed the wordings "not that long ago"; "lovingly held you close"; "still reflects in your gaze so clear"; "while your eyes"; "yet perceive"; "evening skies"; and "once before" from two other English translations.
