Song background:

The text was written years ago for a hymn text search sponsered by a church that was publishing a hymnal of hymns on how to bring about Peace. They very politely rejected this, stating that they wren't looking for hymns about what "we" needed to "do" to bring about Peace - I guess they thought it was someone else's job to do so.
Meanwhile, the scriuptures speak several times of the "covenant of Peace" between mankind and God.
