More about Annette Frazier Reid:
As a convert of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints the history of the Saints resonated & touched me deeply. For me,being a member of the church included adopting its rich history.Much of my ancestral history was born from slavery.Although these 2 groups of people did not share the exact same hardships, they did share the personal emotional impact of those experiences. They are both filled with sorrow and joy, great faith and persecution. The songs in my collection LATTER-DAY SPIRITUALS blend traditional LDS Hymns with the traditional songs of African American slave songs, known as Spirituals. They demonstrate that there are no differences among us at our very core.We long & hope for the same things.

Sheet music playthrough video:
Where Can I Turn for Peace / Balm in Gilead is Part of the collection Two Histories: a collection of "Latter-day Spirituals, blending traditional songs sung by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with African American Spirituals. Two cultures with different but shared experiences of hardship and triumphs, persecution and loss, joy and great faith.
song#1 This song demonstrates that there are no differences among us at our very core. We long and hope for the same things. We seek answers, we seek for peace, solace, to feel whole, to have our hearts healed, to have a friend, to know we matter. The answer for all these longings are found in “The Balm in Gilead”, and that balm is Jesus Christ
