More about Donnalynn Grunewald:
Most of my music is original. Because I have lived in small branches for most of my life, I try to write songs that can be performed by a small group or a choir of inexperienced singers.
Song background:

An Easter hymn, “There in the Garden” reminds us that Jesus Christ paid the price for our sins. The piece begins with an alto (or baritone) solo. The SATB version has a wider range for the sopranos (up to F#) and an a cappella ending. The SAB arrangement is not quite so high, and optional a cappella ending is supported by chords in the accompaniment.

Lyrics: There in the garden He knelt.
There in the garden He prayed.
There in the garden the sentence of death
Was stayed.

Savior, kneeling to pray in the garden,
Thereby to purchase my pardon;
Paying the price for my sin.
Savior, bearing the pain and the suff’ring,
Giving Thyself as an off’ring;
Paying the price for my sin.

Savior, help me remember Thy sorrow
Bought me a brighter tomorrow;
Leading me back to my home.
Savior, fulfilling the Plan of Salvation,
Made possible my exaltation;
Leading me back to my home.

Savior, kneeling to pray in the garden,
Thereby to purchase my pardon;
Paying the price for my sin.
Savior, bearing the pain and the suff’ring,
Giving Thyself as an off’ring;
Paying the price for my sin.

There in the garden He knelt.
There in the garden He prayed.
There in the garden the sentence of death
Was stayed.
