Song background:

This hymn began in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, when I wrote the first and last two verses. At that time a dear neighbor family had a terrible tragedy, and in an attempt to give comfort I gave them a copy (set to another tune.) I ended up making copies for the extended family, which I was glad to do. . . . The other verses have come along as other disaters have happened and affected me. Cydney van Duker had written an interesting and moving arrangement for it
