Song background:

I wanted a hymn that could be sung in both a chapel and a synagogue. About that time I discovered that the evening Joseph Smith brought the plates home from the Hill Cumorah was also the night of the Jewish Feast of the Trumpets (Rosh Hashanah; the Jewish New Year), which commemorates Israel's crossing of the Red Sea into Freedom and the beginning of the Lord’s revealing of Himself and His word, covenants, and commandments to Mankind. Wow, I thought, the coming forth of the Book of Mormon marked the Latter-day beginning of the Lord’s revealing of Himself and His word, covenants, and commandments to Mankind. Think about that next time you see the statue of an angel with a trumpet on top of an LDS temple spire. Jim Carter took my text and wrote a beautiful choir piece that fulfilled my dream. Later I created this hymn version form his choir piece. As soon as Jim gets me a file with the chior version, I will be posting it.
