More about Ben Alder:
Ben Alder was born and raised in St. George, Utah. He took piano lessons from Jaime Stucki at age 8 until moving on to the organ at age 14 with Kathleen Briggs as his teacher. He now takes organ lessons with acclaimed keyboardist (organ, piano, etc.) in Washington County, Geoff Myers. He has played in LDS Tabernacles in St. George, Utah, Paris, Idaho, Brigham City, Utah and Logan, Utah and even was invited to play the 5 manual (keyboards) Salt Lake Tabernacle organ hosted by now deceased tabernacle organist, Robert Cundick. He loves composing, improvising and arranging hymns and songs.
The LDS Hymn is a hymn of loving one another no matter what they look like and who they are with. As Jesus taught us, "Love one another as I have loved you". That is our #1 goal in life, to be with our heavenly father again.
My arrangement of this hymn is dedicated to my Grandmother becuase this is her favorite song. When I saw a list of her favorite songs to perform in an outline of her funeral services, I saw that this hymn was in it.she wanted a ensemble of a violin, 2 cellos, piano and organ, that involved me. So I had the challenge for myself to write an arrangement. When I got done with it since a year ago, I said to her that I got done with the arrangement for her so ir can be pefrormed at funeral. She approved it and accpeted it. (FYI: I'll be exciedted to play my arrangement at her funeral, which she will enjoy when it is her time to leave this earth, to be with Heavenly Father.)
I hope you enjoy my arrangement of "Lord I Would Follow Thee".
