More about Katherine Manning:
I grew up in Fort Collins, CO where I was heavily involved in children’s choirs, school choir, band, and orchestra, and church choirs as far back as I can remember. In high school, I was called as the ward’s choir accompanist - the first of many wonderful music callings including accompanist, organist, chorister and choir director (to name a few). In 2021, I received a BA in Vocal Performance and a BS in Economics from USU. I then stayed at USU to complete a Masters of Science in Economics in 2022. Even though my musical studies mainly focused on singing and teaching opera and jazz, I especially loved my choir, composition, and pedagogy classes. Writing music, performing in large groups, and teaching others are particularly fulfilling to me. I hope that others can glean from my education and experiences. My sweet husband Hayden and I live in Logan, UT with our 1-year-old daughter Evelyn. I love being a full-time, stay-at-home mom, singing with the community jazz band, learning new skills, and dancing with Hayden when we get the chance. I’ve found that God is the author of many simple, yet stunningly beautiful things. Music is no exception! My goal is to create music that is beautiful AND accessible for singers and pianists of all skill levels. This allows participants to feel successful, to focus on musicality, and most importantly, to focus on the Spirit and message of the song. Thank you for supporting music in your church and family - and thank you for supporting my family and I! Visit my site for more compositions and choir director resources at kmanningmusic.com!

Lyrics: Why should I feel discouraged?
Why should the shadows come?
Why should my heart be lonely
And long for heav’n and home,
When Jesus is my portion?
My constant Friend is He:
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.
I sing because I’m happy—
I sing because I’m free—
For His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.
“Let not your heart be troubled.”
His tender word I hear,
And resting on His goodness,
I lose my doubt and fear.
Though by the path He leadeth,
But one step I may see:
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.
Whenever I am tempted,
Whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing,
When hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him;
From care He sets me free:
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.
