More about Sherrie Boren:
I grew up singing around the piano and guitar with my family. I learned chord progressions from my dad and harmony from my mom. I have enjoyed making music ever since, whether on the piano or the violin, in a choir or an orchestra. As I worked toward a degree in piano performance at BYU, I discovered a love for composing and improvising. It wasn't until several years later, when I had three small children, that I decided to try writing a song for church. I enjoyed it so much that I kept right on doing it.

for this piece (opens in a new window). This is a fresh, new musical setting of the original text. As I wrote, I envisioned a shepherd among his sheep. The lyrical melody reminds me of a shepherd's pipe. This song received an Award of Distinction in the 2013 LDS Church Music Submission. Click here for the simplified piano accompaniment.
