Song background:

"Because I Have Been Given Much" for flute choir. This arrangement was written with 3-4 flutes in mind, originally in October 2021 for the Stake Conference of the Nuremberg Stake in Germany where I lived at the time.
The theme for the conference was "Love, Share, and Invite," and I selected this piece specifically for the "share" portion of the conference. ("Love One Another" was quickly selected for "love," and although I originally came up blank for "invite," it made perfect sense after someone suggested "Come, Follow Me" to select this one for the closing hymn--I will post this one soon.)
For those who have been privy to my various hymn arrangements, you know that flute choirs are perhaps my most favorite choirs (with men's chorus being a REALLY close second). I love the beautiful and uplifting sounds that flutes have.. but most especially when played with other flutes.
This arrangement was based heavily on the original piece in the hymnbook, particularly in the chorus that has three parts in the right hand, though I adjusted the key to accommodate the range of a standard flute. And I had the awesome privilege (as I try to do) to write a running part in the last verse based entirely on the sounds I pictured in my mind that a descant might play.
This has always been one of my favorite hymns in the hymnbook, even in my childhood. I have fond memories of singing parts together with my sister and her friend after church, even though the hymnbook specifically directed us to sing together with a big "Unison" slapped at the top.
Singing in parts together was perhaps one of my most rebellious acts in my life up to that point in time
