Scott Mains is a composer, arranger, and pianist. Scott lives near Hartford, Connecticut with his wife Jessica, and his two sons Penn, and Langston.
My wife and I, after nine years of marriage, still could not have children for medical reasons. Through prayer and priesthood blessings, I came to reallize that Heavenly Father had shown me that I would be a father one day, and that through the gospel of Jesus Christ, I know the kind of father I want to be. Joseph Smith learned that God is our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ is his Son. Father Lehi and his son Nephi both learned of the love of God in the vision of the Tree of Life. And each of us through trials and experiences of family life, can come to know and feel God's love for his children. A Father and His Son is about that gospel vision.
This song is dedicated to the memory of my nephew, Lochlan (February 19, 2011 - December 27, 2012), and in celebration of my son, Penn, born January 30th, 2016.
