This hymn is influenced by a lot of sources. I had a viola student that wanted to create a Christmas hymn about how Jesus is the Light of the World, and then shortly thereafter the hymn "The Lord Is My Light" was brought up in a RS meeting. I decided that it would fun to combine that hymn with some Christmas hymns and found it blended nicely with Away in a Manger. I think the inspired words of these hymns help us remember that Jesus is our light all year round. This is a simple two part arrangement with familiar words (although The Lord is My Light has some rhythm changes) it should be easy to put together with any size group even with relatively short notice. It works well with primary children singing the top voice, but any combo of voices will work. The voice parts are very simple, so feel free to add harmony if you like (especially during at the end)
