Fear is not a fun emotion to experience. I've tried hard to not have to deal with fear. I've done everything I could to avoid it; but when I found myself in different situations that created fear in my mind and heart, I tried to hold on to the thought, ""For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." (2 Timothy 1:7)
Those four words, "power," "love" and a "sound mind" epitomized words of strength to me; they were also words that embodied my Savior, Jesus Christ. He's been the one sure foundation in my life; the "Pillar of Strength" I've always known I could lean on.
It was during one of those times in 1996 that this sweet song came about.
