My Country, 'Tis Of Thee My_Country_Tis_Of_Thee_SATB_by_Henry_Forson
SATB and Piano. This is an easy arrangement of a familiar hymn for ward choirs with limited
rehearsal time.
The hymn begins with a standard six-measure piano introduction. The choir sings the first three verses in F major, as in Hymn 339 of the 1985 edition of the Hymns of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Then, they modulate into the new fourth verse.
Performance suggestions for the first three verses are:
- First verse, women unison until measure 7, then women harmony.
- Second verse, men unison until measure 7, then everyone harmony.
- Third verse, everyone harmony until they sing "break", then continue with the new fourth verse modulation.
(To help reduce rehearsal time, a marked version of Hymn 339 is also attached.)
This hymn’s melody is used in the anthems of multiple nations, and its lyrics may be adapted as needed.
