I recently retired as the Technical Services Librarian in the Utah Valley University Library. Besides my masters in Library Science I also have a masters in Music.
In 2004 I composed a new melody for the words of "While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks" because I very much disliked the traditional melody.
In 2014 my ward choir performed the Sally DeFord arrangement of the traditional melody which I really like. At the time I wondered if Sally's accompaniment would work with my melody. But I didn't investigate.
A few months ago, in 2024, I finally took the time to see if a MIX of my melody and Sally's accompaniment would work together. I had to change a few notes in the piano part to match the melody but I'm extremely pleased with the results.
I'm including 3 PDFs: 1> The complete piano/vocal score. 2> A 2 page vocal score (which can be printed on 1 sheet of paper). 3> The original 2004 composition.
I'm also including a computer generated sound file.
