This simple lyrical song, written for children, speaks of the answers and blessings we receive from our Heavenly Father when we approach Him in faith though humble prayer. This song may be used at home, church, or in public performance. Shortly after the birth of my first child, as I was nursing him one day, and singing to him, the words of this song came to me.
Lyrics: Verse 1:
In the stillness of the night
With the calm in the air,
I bow my head as I
Kneel in humble prayer.
I speak to Heavenly Father
And thank Him every day,
For all the things He’s given
When I kneel to pray.
Verse 2:
And when I need His help
I know that He is there.
I know my Heavenly Father
Can hear my every prayer.
So when I listen with my heart
And promise to obey,
I know I’ll hear His answers
When I kneel to pray.
Verse 3:
He whispers through His Spirit
And tells me He is there.
By this I know our Father
Will answer every prayer.
I see the things that change
As I live from day to day,
And apply the things I’ve learned
When I kneel to pray.
