Ralph Vaughan Williams composed a beautiful hymn tune prelude arrangement of Orlando Gibbons' 'Song 13', and I thought it would be interesting to make an arrangement of his arrangement, but instead of the 'Song 13' melody, I used 'We Thank Thee, O God, for a Prophet.' Hymn #231 in the LDS Hymnal "Father, Cheer Our Souls Tonight" is based on the 'Song 13' melody.
Though this arrangement is gentle and subdued in nature, it can also be performed on a single manual with a much louder registration for a postlude.
