This is the Right Place is taken from a collection of songs called The Prophets Songbook which contains 17 songs of our modern-day prophets and themes from their presidency. This song was written to highlight a teaching of President Brigham Young After the martyrdom of Joseph Smith, Brigham Young was sustained as the President of the Church. The Saints were being persecuted, and they lived in very challenging situations. Brigham Young led a group of Saints from Navuoo, Illinois to the Salt Lake Valley. They arrived on July 24, 1847. Though lying sick in his wagon, he rose up, viewed the valley below, and declared, "This is the right place."

Lyrics: The early saints were led
By a prophet of the Lord;
Walking miles through snow and cold
Life eternal their reward.
The prophet in his wagon
Looked down from mountain space,
Then from his sickbed he proclaimed,
"This is the right place."
"This is the right place."
"This is the right place."
The prophet told them happily,
"This is the right place."
I too am on a journey
Like pioneers of old.
And whatever my location,
I'll follow the Lord.
The path is sometimes stony.
The prophet sets the pace.
I'll quickly heed his words to me,
I'm in the right place!
I'm in the right place!
I'm in the right place.
The prophet tells me happily,
I'm in the right place.
