for this piece (opens in a new window). In college, I learned that the most meaningful classes were usually the hardest classes; by pushing myself to work harder, I in turn learned so much more. As I got older, I realized God truly is the master teacher because his class on mortality is very hard. But that also means what we gain from the class is worth infinitely more. And no matter how hard it gets, through the grace of his Son, Jesus Christ, I find the power to push on and become all I can be.

Lyrics: Teacher, this assignment is taking far too long
Every question is confusing, and the answers all seem wrong
Can't I just glance at the key?
Why are you so hard on me?
If it wasn't hard, there'd be no courage in the fight
If it wasn't hard, there'd be no need to get it right
If there's no pain, no lessons learned
There's nothing gained, there's nothing earned
And no reason to become all you can.
If it wasn't hard, it wouldn't be part of The Plan.
Maestro, this concerto is far beyond my skill
I can't get all the notes right, and I fear I never will
Why don't we just slow it down?
Maybe simplify or take something out?
If it wasn't hard, there'd be no courage in the fight
If it wasn't hard, there'd be no need to get it right
If there's no pain, no lessons learned
There's nothing gained, there's nothing earned
And no reason to become all you can.
If it wasn't hard, it wouldn't be part of The Plan.
To overcome
To push beyond
To find the strength within when all your strength is gone
To get back up
Each time you fall
That power is the greatest gift of all
Jesus, this existence could tear a soul apart
How can I face tomorrow with this aching of my heart?
Why the pain and endless loss?
Is there hope from up on a cross?
If it wasn't hard, there'd be no courage in the fight
If it wasn't hard, there'd be no need for heaven's light...
If it wasn't hard, there'd be no power in my grace
If it wasn't hard, how could it change the human race?
But if in all the pain, the lessons learned
Your heart's been changed, your heart's been turned
And you're reaching for the strength of my hand
Only then can you truly understand
I'm the way that you'll become all you can!
If it wasn't hard, it wouldn't be part of The Plan.
