The Handcart Song was sung by the pioneers as they made their journey west and voices a cheerful optimism in the face of great hardships. I arranged the song first as a piano solo, then as a choir piece for my ward. It features the adult choir and a children's choir accompanied by piano. There is an interlude that is original music using bits of existing LDS hymn lyrics, and much of the accompaniment uses themes taken from the piano studies of Fredrich Burgmuller.
