More about Ben Alder:
Ben Alder was born and raised in St. George, Utah. He took piano lessons from Jaime Stucki at age 8 until moving on to the organ at age 14 with Kathleen Briggs as his teacher. He now takes organ lessons with acclaimed keyboardist (organ, piano, etc.) in Washington County, Geoff Myers. He has played in LDS Tabernacles in St. George, Utah, Paris, Idaho, Brigham City, Utah and Logan, Utah and even was invited to play the 5 manual (keyboards) Salt Lake Tabernacle organ hosted by now deceased tabernacle organist, Robert Cundick. He loves composing, improvising and arranging hymns and songs.
The Christmas hymn, "Still, Still, Still", is a tender Christmas carol that originates in Salzburg Austria. It pairs a gentle folk melody with words describing the birth of the Christ child. The text depicts Mary softly enfolding her newborn, the angelic choirs singing jubilant praise, and the boundless love of God the Father in sending His Son to earth.
My Arrangement uses that same music format of that tune using really big climaxes from very soft (pp) to loud (f) during the arrangement. Ending the last "still", literally being very soft (pp) at the end. Your congregation or audience, will feel the spirit during Christmastime as you hear these gentle words from Germany in the English Translation.
I will have this arrangement in its originate German form and also have it in Spanish (for those Spanish and German speaking wards or branch who would like to sing my arrangement in their language. Maybe I'll do more languages other than German and Spanish.
Hope you enjoy my arrangement of the German Christmas carol, "Still, Still, Still".
