I wrote this as a gift for my wife, Cindy.
There has been some controversy about my choice of language in the way I portray the conversations between the Father and the Son throughout the song. I call them both "the Lord." In this edition, I capitalize the Father's title as "the LORD," hoping to make it clear, at least to the singer, who is talking. I simply like the way the words work together; I mean no doctrinal miscommunication.

Lyrics: The LORD asked the Lord one day,
"Is it good that the Man's a-lone?"
"No!" said the Man.
He spoke out of turn,
But the Lord felt obliged to intone, "
My thoughts, indeed," said the Lord to the LORD.
"Our thoughts, indeed," said the LORD.

The LORD asked the Lord one day,
"Would You go put the Man to sleep;
And take from his side
A part of his soul,
A helper to bless and to keep?"
"Your counsel is good," said the Lord to the LORD.
"Our counsel is good," said the LORD.

"Now what will you call her?
What is her name?
Yours is the giving," said He.
"What will I call her?
The Fountain of Life!
Woman, sweetheart, Eve."

And the Lord said to the Man one day,
"Would you go make the Woman your wife?
And never forget
She's part of you, yet,
And I'll give you the power of life."
"Our hope, indeed," said the Man to the Lord.
"Our hope, in-deed," said his wife.

And the Man called to the Lord one day,
"Would You come see the joy that we've made?"
And the Lord came and saw
All the children she bore,
And He said, "May your joy never fade!"
"Our prayer indeed," said the Man to the Lord.
"Our prayer indeed," said his wife.

"Now, what will you call her?
What is her name?
Yours is the giving," said He.
"What will I call her?
The Fountain of Life!
Mother, Mother, Eve.
Mother, Mother, Eve."
