More about Saige Barlow:
I compose, write, and arrange my own music. Sometimes, I like writing new music for a hymn arrangement and/or choral music. I plan on publishing my own website where I will publish all of my compositions and arrangements in the future. In the meantime, I have some arrangements that I am very happy to share with you! :)
So, this song is originally from the hymn book, but I have set new music to it. You know how a lot of people might dislike this hymn just because it sounds to dreary and minor? Others love it a lot, but this is mainly written to appeal to those who might need a new way of appreciating the hymn in order to find a liking for it (if they do not already). It can still be thought of as a funeral hymn if you desire it to be, but it conveys a more celebratory tone for ringing in the new year! It makes sense since the lyrics say things like "ring, happy bells" and "ring in the Christ that is to be," right? The original version is great, but some might think it sounds to passive aggressive. I like to think of it as a "grave-digger" song since it sounds that way, but maybe that is not what someone might be looking for in a hymn. This one, I hope, can shed new light to the hymn. Even if you do like the original hymn tune, I hope you will also enjoy this one! :)
