Michael is a graduate of Brigham Young University and Western Governor's University with degrees in German, Music and Instructional Design. Though he grew up traveling the world with his military father, he now lives in Utah with his wife, Jen, and his two sons. He enjoys acting in community theater, performing and writing music, and writing both fiction and non-fiction. He played for several years with the handbell choir Bells on Temple Square and is now a member of the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square. He is the author of the many books, including The Canticle Kingdom, The Hunger, and The Last Archangel. for this piece (opens in a new window).When I was in the BYU Choirs, we sang “Praise to the Man” to an alternate tune. I later learned that this tune is to the Christmas song “Star of the East”, which was actually the original tune. Only later, it was set to the tune in the hymnbook, “Scotland the Brave”.
