More about Rebecca Newson:
Rebecca (Becky) first gained a love of music through concert band, playing clarinet, beginning in middle school and through her time at Ricks college. Recent years have put music back into focus in her life, through her church callings and friendships. She has also participated in ward and stake choirs over the years, as well as singing in the choir for the California Bay Area production of Lamb of God, composed by Rob Gardner, and later in the Meridian Idaho production. She has always found great peace and comfort through the words and songs of the Gospel, and finds joy through putting her own testimony to music.
After lengthy pondering on prayer in times of need, I felt the need to write my ideas down as a poem. I later put it to music as a hymn, and worked with a friend to create an arrangement for a Tenor solo with piano and clarinet accompaniment. The resulting music expresses the way that I am convinced (that I KNOW) that God is always anxiously calling for us to come to Him, eager to lift us and help us however we need it most. It doesn't matter where we are, or what we've done, or how we feel - He loves us unconditionally, and is so eager to bless us if we only lean on Him and trust Him. The instant we open our heart to Him, He is *THERE*! No questions asked. Just thrilled that we have made Him part of our lives, and ready to help us on our way to return to Him, and pour His spirit out upon us. We are the only thing standing in the way of God's presence in our lives. Let us be humble enough to invite Him in.
