Some time ago a sweet older lady asked me to write a song for her and to make it about the results of divorce. She said it could be "I'm on the outside looking in."  i thought about it for a long time and realized that everyone involved in divorce must feel that way.  Her son told me he did, and that he as so many others wondered when he was a child if all the unhappiness was his fault.  Here we are many years later and still the unintended consequences go on through the generations.  Everyone wonders what happened, who was at fault and did anyone win.   Our son Michael, who was about 16 at the time,  arranged and recorded the orchestration.  We added a little party at the beginning because this is all about what is going on in someone's head that no one else knows.

I tagged this lyrics with words that should apply in a positive situation, such as "forgiveness" "family" and "children", but this is actually the only dark and miserable piece I have ever composed, because it is really about what can happen when those things are forgotten by one of the people involved.
