More about Nathan Ashby:
I am an amateur musician that picked up the hobby of composing this year. My strongest instruments are plucked string instruments starting with the guitar followed by the mandolin and ukelee. I also play piano near the intermediate level. I've been working on some arrangements and even have some original songs I would like to share in the coming months.

for this piece (opens in a new window).I love the Book of Mormon and I love Nephi's psalm as recorded in 2 Nephi 4. We see how even our hero was burdened by feels of inadequacy. At the same time he used these feelings to turn to the Lord and praise Him. Many years ago I wrote the chorus to this in the key of G. Earlier this year

Lyrics: Verse 1:
Behold, my soul delights in the things of the Lord,
I ponder on the things which I have seen and heard,
Yet I cry, "O wretched man that I am!"
My soul grieves, my heart sorrows for the flesh of man
Verse 2:
Mine enemies He confounds, they quake in my sight,
By day He hears my cries, gives me visions by night,
He has filled me with His love he bestows,
Why should I harbor anger towards my foes?
Chorus:
Awake, my soul! No longer droop in sin
Rejoice, O my heart, and give place no more
for the enemy of my soul
Verse 3:
Conveyed to lofty peaks I beheld His great plan,
Mine eyes beheld great things, even too great for man,
Yet why does my soul sorrow by caprice?
Why should I let the evil one destroy my peace?
(Chorus)
Bridge:
O, Lord, I will praise the forever (I will praise thee forever)
yea, my soul will rejoice in thee my God (the rock of my salvation)
Wilt thou make (Wilt thou make)
me to shake (me to shake)
at the appearance of sin?
(Chorus)
O, Lord, awake my soul!
