YOUNG
The Twelve are appointed by the finger of God. Here is Brigham. Here are Heber and the rest of the Twelve, an independent body who have the keys of the priesthood -- the keys of the kingdom of God to all the world. They stand next to Joseph, as the First Presidency of the Church.
FORBES
Then you are in his danger!
YOUNG
I do not know if my enemies will take my life or not, and I do not care, for I want to be with the God I love.
I ask, who has stood next to Joseph? I have, and I will stand next to him. We have a head, and that head is the Apostleship, the spirit and power of Joseph.
ANDERSON
What about Rigdon? What about his calling?
YOUNG
Brother Rigdon was at his side -- not above.
All this does not lessen the character of Rigdon; let him magnify his calling, and Joseph will want him beyond the veil.
FORBES
Brother Brigham, we will follow you!

I do not ask you to take my counsel or advice alone, but everyone of you act for yourselves. We want to know if this people will support the Priesthood in the name of Israel's God.
This kingdom will spread more than ever.
ANDERSON

Here are the scriptures; they are written on the tablet of my heart. If the Church wants the Twelve to stand as the head, the First Presidency of the Church, and at the head of this kingdom in all the world, you are now the sole controllers of it.
All that are in favor of this, in all the congregation of the Saints, manifest it by speaking now.
