Doug Clyde started playing the Clarinet at the age of 9. As a 9th grader at Bennion Junior High, he received the "Concert Band" award for the best Concert Band member, and as a Senior at Taylorsville High School he received the "John Philip Sousa Band Award" for outstanding achievement in Instrumental Music. Doug also plays the Saxophone, Oboe, Recorders, and several other instruments. Since 1996 he has played in the Orchestra Pit in over 35 productions for: The Murray Arts Council, Taylorsville High School, The Taylorsville Arts Council, The West Valley Arts Council, The Bluffdale Arts Council, The Academy of Performing Arts, The Draper Arts Council, The Oquirrh Hills Performing Arts Alliance, SPA (The Salt Lake School for the Performing Arts), The Sandy Arts Council, Pinnacle Acting Company, The Egyptian Theater in Park City, Dark Horse Company Theatre, Spotlight Theater Company, and received the "Best Orchestra Member" award for the Taylorsville High School production of Crazy For You in 1997. He has also worked on the Stage Crew in 2 musicals for: Taylorsville High School and Bennion Jr. High School, and arranged, orchestrated & produced a synthesized background score for Bennion Jr. High's production of Guys & Dolls in 2005. Doug has played as Principal Clarinet for the West Valley Symphony and the Taylorsville Symphony, and has also performed with the Draper Symphony. Doug is also a vocalist and has studied voice since 2002. He sung with the Utah Light Opera Company for 4 years, and performed 2 productions with them: Mozart's The Magic Flute and Gilbert & Sullivan's The Gondoliers. He also played the role of Issachar and the Butler in The Murray Arts Council's production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in 2006, and Cowboy Bob in The Egyptian Theater's production of Footloose in Park City in 2008. He has performed professionally for 5 musicals, on stage and in the orchestra. He has also sung with the American West Symphony Chorus of Sandy. Doug records New Age and Classical music under the artist name ALBEDO (formed in January of 2002 and was nominated for Best Soundtrack Album by the Independent Music Awards in 2013), and has released 10 studio albums. He is a composer, arranger, and orchestrator for ALBEDO, Cremme (a String Quintet), Community Orchestras and Bands (including the Murray Concert Band and the Davis County Symphony), and local film projects (including Smiling Devil Productions). Doug is also an Actor and has appeared in a short film called "Masque" staring Wilford Brimley, plus several projects for the LDS Motion Picture Studio and BYU TV, including the film for the Mormon Battalion visitor's Center and several sketches for the comedy show Studio C. He also appears in the short films "Kingdom By the Sea", "A Royal Elf of Abalon", and "Shahira and the Flying Elfs" all based on books written by Anna del C. Dye. He founded his own business ALBEDO MUSIC in 2008 which records and produces all of his music, and is also where he provides audio and video services for customers including transposing sheet music.
