More about Debbie Wood:
How I love my mother, Brenda; my very first teacher in life. When I was eight, I had a desire to learn to play the piano and she began teaching me about the different notes. Then in Jr. High, my music teacher, Marvin Hill, understood the power of chords, and in one month, changed my life. Over the years, I've written different songs, both upon request, and to express the emotion I was feeling at the time. Each of these songs has a story of how it was written. (Which can also be found at www.power-plus-learning.com/debbs-music/) Each of these songs I dedicate to our loving Father in Heaven and Savior, Jesus Christ. I know They live. I know They love us perfectly and give us gifts and talents to share with others and make this world a better place. How grateful I am to Them for all I've been blessed with.
Song background:

We're often told, "If you want to speak to God, pray! If you want God to speak to you, read your scriptures."

I've had many sweet experiences with prayer and reading my scriptures; including the feelings expressed in this song. As a youth, myself, I went through these feelings and as a parent, I have watched my children go through these same emotions. (I think everyone, at some time or other, longs to feel that love, guidance and acceptance from a sure, Divine source.)

This song was written as I reflected on my children and watched them try to find peace within themselves and gain testimonies of their own.

It is my testimony that God lives! He does hear and answer our prayers. We can feel His love as we draw close to Him and try to live worthily to have His Spirit to be with us.

(Sorry for this midi .mp3 - it makes it seem like this song has no feeling, pauses or slowing of any kind. I hope to do a better recording, but for now this will give you an idea of how it sounds.)

Lyrics: At times I sit and ponder, as through life I seem to wander, "Is God there? And does He care for me?"
And so I begin my plea, as I approach on bended knee...

1. Oh Father, canst Thou hear my call? I offer my all. Hear my cry, it is I, Thy child.
Oh Father, here's what I've been told in scriptures of old, Seek Thy face, feel Thy grace in prayer.

(Father) "My child, I am listening, Be still and feel I care.
You're not alone. I'll guide you home. You'll know how much I care, in prayer!"

2. My Father, look what I behold our prophets have told: humbly pray, learn God's way, obey.
Dear Father, Thou canst hear me still; I offer my will. All my heart I impart in prayer.

(Father) "My child, I am listening, Be still and feel I care.

Child (or both together):
(Child) I'm not alone. He'll guide me home. I feel His presence there, in prayer!"
(Father) You're not alone. I'll guide you home. You'll know how much I care, in prayer!"
