I began my musical journey at the age of seven, when my parents enrolled me in piano lessons with a member of the Church. With him, I started playing hymns, although for many years I did so only in private and did not participate in meetings. Around 2020, at the age of ten, I stopped playing the piano. Three years later, after moving to a new ward, I reconnected with the music of the Church by joining ward and stake choirs, which sparked a deeper interest in the choral tradition. When I resumed lessons—this time with Ítalo Coello—I began to develop not only my pianistic technique but also my work as an arranger. I currently accompany sacrament meetings on the piano and participate in special musical numbers with the ward choir whenever I am asked. In my arrangements, I seek to respect the original character of the hymn while adding musical clarity, drawing inspiration from the work of the Tabernacle Choir and musicians such as Mack Wilberg, Ryan Murphy, and Ítalo Coello, whom I admire both for their musical approach and their service. My intention is that these arrangements may contribute to worship and help those who perform and hear them draw closer to God.
Andare con Cristo
Este arreglo fue preparado para la apertura del Seminario del Área Sudamérica Sur. La obra, escrita por Yelca Vega, fue concebida originalmente para coro SAB, flauta, violín y violonchelo. La presente edición para coro SAB, piano y flauta fue realizada por Agustín Martínez y aprobada por la autora, procurando conservar fielmente el carácter expresivo, la intención musical y los elementos distintivos del arreglo original, al mismo tiempo que se adaptan sus recursos a esta nueva formación instrumental y vocal.
La parte de flauta incluida en esta edición es completamente opcional. Su contenido recoge líneas y elementos musicales presentes en el arreglo original de Yelca Vega, junto con aportes realizados por Agustín Martínez durante el proceso de adaptación para coro SAB y piano. La incorporación de este instrumento busca preservar algunos de los colores tímbricos y detalles melódicos característicos de la obra, enriqueciendo su interpretación sin modificar su identidad musical.
Cabe destacar que el descanto de la segunda estrofa corresponde íntegramente al arreglo original de Yelca Vega. Esta línea melódica complementaria constituye uno de los elementos más distintivos de la obra, aportando riqueza contrapuntística y realzando su desarrollo expresivo. En esta edición se ha conservado con el propósito de mantener la intención artística concebida por la autora y resaltar uno de los momentos más característicos del arreglo.
Aunque la obra puede interpretarse únicamente con coro SAB y piano, la participación de la flauta añade variedad sonora y contribuye a destacar determinados pasajes melódicos. Los intérpretes son libres de incluir o prescindir de esta parte según las necesidades de la ocasión y los recursos disponibles.
