More about Amanda Mae Howe:
Amanda Mae Howe has been playing the piano since she was six years old. She received her BM in Piano Performance from Brigham Young University – Idaho in 2022 and her MM in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Oklahoma in 2024. Establishing her private studio in central Pennsylvania, Amanda now excitedly shares her love of music with her piano students. Amanda has pursued arranging as a side interest from a young age when she and her siblings would make up songs together. As a pianist, she particularly loves arranging for this instrument to create beautiful music for worship and performance.
Song background:

I wrote the opening melody years ago, avoiding my practice in one of the piano rooms at BYU-Idaho. I wasn’t sure what to make of it at the time. Even so, thoughts of this melody came back to me occasionally. Recently I had the idea to use it in an arrangement, as a full composition had never developed. I paired it with “I Know That My Redeemer Lives” and the rest fell into place. They seemed to fit together, and the melody is finally complete.

The piece opens quietly, thoughtfully, as a moment of contemplation. Gradually, the dynamic and intensity increases towards the chorus, culminating in a triumphant key change which drives a surety of the message expressed in the text of the original hymn. The sound fades at a deceptive cadence, arriving at the ending which leaves us as we began in a peaceful moment.
