More about Timothy Rohwer:
Timothy Rohwer graduated from BYU-Idaho with a Bachelor's degree in Musical Arts. He teaches violin, viola and beginning cello lessons at the Utah Conservatory in Park City, Utah. He is also the founder and director of the Da CAPO Youth Program, encouraging young string players through collaboration. Timothy started composing in 1998 at the age of 13, his first being a 3 movement string quartet. He shortly thereafter got the chance to use music notation software and has nearly two decades of experience in the sheet music creation process. He works as a freelance music engraver, and his services can be booked at the following website: https://www.rohwermusicstudios.com/music-transcription He was most recently involved in vocalist and composer Debra Cook's original and crittically aclaimed, off-Broadway musical "Jilted to Perfection: A MorMom's Love" as Debras personal copyist. Tim is the other of the Rohwer Music Studios Method books for Violin, Viola, and Cello. He writes hymn arrangements for ward choir, and for solo instruments.
In the midst of trying to find an arrangement for my ward choir for Christmas, I had a home teacher who mentioned the story behind "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day," how the man's son had been killed in war. My brother was at the time serving in the United States Marine Corps and was deployed in Iraq. This felt like the perfect thing to sing for our Chrismtas program this year, and so I started searching for some arrangement in our music library. After searching, though, I found that there was no such arrangement, and so I wrote one myself.
This is an updated version, after I had spent some more time in classes for music theory and some extra time writing different compositions and studying varying composers, and so it is much more refined and has more substance then the older one. It is - as yet - still not fully finished, but I felt it finished enough to sing it again this year.
