Song background:

Elder Gong was speaking at our stake conference and the words, "I looked in the mirror and what did I see?  A child of God smiling back at me" popped into my head.  I pondered on that for the rest of the day and I awoke at 4 a.m. the next morning and got up and wrote the lyrics putting them to the melody of Popcorn Popping.  I knew I had something special and so I contacted the church Permissions Dept.  I received permission to use the music to their copyrighted song, Popcorn Popping.  Now, my new song to an old, familiar tune is copyrighted by the church too!

I looked in the mirror and what did I see?  A child of God smiling back at me.

Looking at myself, it's no surprise, a child of God is before my eyes.

It doesn't matter if you're big or small; black, brown, or white, He still loves us all.

I know it's really true, I'm sure you will agree.

A child of God is smiling back at me.
