More about Sherrie Boren:
I grew up singing around the piano and guitar with my family. I learned chord progressions from my dad and harmony from my mom. I have enjoyed making music ever since, whether on the piano or the violin, in a choir or an orchestra. As I worked toward a degree in piano performance at BYU, I discovered a love for composing and improvising. It wasn't until several years later, when I had three small children, that I decided to try writing a song for church. I enjoyed it so much that I kept right on doing it.

Song background:

"Holy Places" is a based on Doctrine & Covenants 87:8. "Wherefore, stand ye in holy places, and be not moved, until the day of the Lord come; for behold, it cometh quickly, saith the Lord. Amen."

I wanted to write a children's song that teaches about preparing for Christ's return by standing in holy places. Our temples are indeed holy, but we do not have to be in a temple or church building to stand in holy places. Even an imperfect home can be a holy place of growth and love. And no matter our circumstances, we will always be in a holy place when we have the Holy Ghost in our hearts.

This was written as a Primary song, but could be used for all ages, as a vocal solo or ensemble, and even for unison choir.
