I know this piece is too low for many altos and too high for many tenors. I apologize. However, I have found such a beautiful quality in the voices that can sing in these ranges. I have for a long time wanted to write a duet that highlighted these voices, and this hymn gave me an opportunity. I wanted to feature both the alto and the tenor without either one taking a back seat to the other. And why not throw in a couple of violins, as well, with a complementary part? I have enjoyed exploring these parts and I hope that you will, too.
