for this piece (opens in a new window).This duet was composed at the behest of my sister for her daughter's baptism. This has become our family's "Baptism Song." Inspired by Crawford Gates' Baptism Song- listen closely and you'll hear a motive or two. The piano accompaniment requires an able musician. Counting is crucial, but the music should flow and sound water like. The text is largely from 2 Nephi, Chapter 31.

Lyrics: Now if the Lamb of God, He being Holy should have need to be baptized by water to fulfill all righteousness. Then how much more need we being unholy to be baptized, even by water. Christ showed men the straightness of the path and the narrowness of the gate.
Duet Refrain: (Part I) Follow thou Me. Follow thou Me. Following your Lord and Savior down, down into the water. (Part II) Come and be baptized unto repentance, show that ye are willing to take upon you the name of Christ. Witness it unto God this day, by going into the water of baptism.
