This song was written for, and performed at, the (re-) dedication of our extended ward building. I had a hard time finding a text for this occasion. Nothing seemed right. So I ended up writing my own lyrics. An experience I don't really want to repeat, it's harder than I thought. The "germinating cell" or musical instigation is the first cord and movement to the second cord, really. So all done after measure two. (I decided to treat the first measure not as a pick up!). the whole song and its harmonic progression is a plea and a prayer, an expression of hope. After all the turmoil of dedicatory hope and offering, the song ends with a more humble plea for a blessing. This seems to be asked a lot for a ward choir, but it was (and is) very doable. Piano is intended for rehearsal only.
