Comments for this piece:
From Melanie Jensen: I found this song too late for the 2019 Christmas season but I got chills listening to it and am excited to use it next year. Quite a beautiful arrangement. Thank you Michael Bailey!
5.0 stars.

From Michael Provard: This is a stunning piece of music. Our ward members were in tears of joy for the Christmas season by the end of this. I'd give this 10 stars if I could.

More about Michael Bailey:
My name is Michael Bailey and music has always been my first love in life. I graduated from BYU with a BA in Music and spent time in composition and orchestration and music recording. I enjoy getting feedback so please reach out to me if you listen and have comments!
Song background:

Christmas came early for me this year and it was great. I couldn't get this out of my head all summer. Taking on Christmas was fun and a little scarry all at the same time. I keep subjecting my patient and loving choir members to my over ambitious pieces. The problems is, they deliver every time and so what can I do except let them shine? Having to incredible keyboardists in the ward also has been a huge blessing, especially with this arragement for Choir/Organ/Piano. It was written to be a recall events of the night the Savior was born. 7 - 8 minutes (depending on your tempi) of music making by the choir and congregation. It starts in the fields with the exchanges between the angles and shephers, the heavens and earth rejoicing (entrances by women here intended to mimic the far off sounds of the angels). 2nd verse intended to sound like a celebration (if you have a reed stop on your organ, thats what i had in mind for the little solo there. If i knew someone who played recorder I'd love to stick them in right there) and maybe even a march (but a reverent one :)). We then move to the manager scene where we see the baby Jesus. We're having some of our younger choir memebers handle the solo here but a soloist is nice too. A more revernent 'Gloria' used to accent. The congregation joins on the final verse. Then choir sings some gloria's to transition to a majestic ending on the 3 verse of Angels We Have Heard on High. Congregation joins again. Choir ends with a tag line - "Come, Adore on bended knee Christ, the Lord, the new born King! Gloria!". Forgive the somewhat cheesy organ sounds in the recording, it's all I have.

This piece might be a touch challenging if your organist isn't comfortable with pedals (or lot of sharps, but those don't last long) and there are quit a few places where women are in 3 parts. If there's enough interest out there i may rewrite the accompaniment for piano only to make it more accesible (feel free to contact me at musicalmike2018@outlook.com if interested) to more people. I have individual practice audio files available if people have interest in it (has just the accompaniment and the individual part). Special thanks to Linda Hartman who has been gracious enough to help keep me from choir part writting errors. If anyone knows how to get in touch with family or custodians of Rosalee Elsers copyright, please let me know. I've tried and can't seem to locate them. I took a few liberties with her harmonization and added a small counter melody, but mostly followed it as it is absolutely superb.
