More about Donnalynn Grunewald:
Most of my music is original. Because I have lived in small branches for most of my life, I try to write songs that can be performed by a small group or a choir of inexperienced singers.
Song background:

Despite being “new” to this website, this song is actually quite old. I wrote it while living in an unheated detached single car garage shortly after we moved to Turner Valley, Alberta in 1993.

For many years, I improvised the accompaniment – much to the dismay of my choir director friends! Finally, about half a dozen years ago, I managed to actually write a piano part. It has remained locked away in my computer until this year (2014) when the Calgary Region Institute Choir wanted to use it.

Lyrics: See the babe lying in the straw.
See him mother kneeling there while angels sing.
See the star, with its gently shining rays, falling soft upon the child;
And the shepherds humble gaze on the baby mild.

See the men coming from afar
And they worship at his feet after following the star.
Bringing gifts – gold and frankincense and myrrh – giving all their worth.
And the night was still and calm for the Savior’s birth.

And He shall be called the Light of the World; Emmanuel, the Lamb of God.
King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Prince of Peace, Son of God.

Peace on Earth – God’s goodwill to man.
Jesus, Savior of the World and Son of Man.
Follow Him; we may have eternal life, we may live with God.
Sing His praise aloud – Jesus, Son of God.

And He shall be called the Light of the World; Emmanuel, the Lamb of God.
King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Prince of Peace, Son of God.
Prince of Peace, Son of God.
