This is not a hymn we sing often. It has a lot of harmony changes that can make it difficult for the congregation. But it is so beautiful! It is evocative of repentant feelings and longings. The phrase starting at measure 47 is my favorite--when we sang it in our congregation last, I heard this in my mind, hence this arrangement. Starting at measure 36, the piano and violin have a conversation: the piano will start the phrase, then wait while the violin echoes it back. For the ending, the violin should continuously sound, while the piano can completely cut-off between chord changes. The piano can release the pedal before the violin stops the trill at the very end.
