More about Sherrie Boren:
I grew up singing around the piano and guitar with my family. I learned chord progressions from my dad and harmony from my mom. I have enjoyed making music ever since, whether on the piano or the violin, in a choir or an orchestra. As I worked toward a degree in piano performance at BYU, I discovered a love for composing and improvising. It wasn't until several years later, when I had three small children, that I decided to try writing a song for church. I enjoyed it so much that I kept right on doing it.

for this piece (opens in a new window). This song is an echo of the many prayers I have sent up to the Lord in times of darkness and uncertainty. In our ever-darkening world, the shadows of fear and doubt may creep into our hearts and homes. But the light of the Savior dispels all darkness. I felt that this song needed to end with a message of hope, so I added a fourth verse. It reminds us that the Savior can give us strength to move forward with faith, no matter how dark the night. This song received a Special Recognition in the 2013 LDS Church Music Submission. Click here for a choral setting of this arrangement.
