Choral and Vocal Music teacher at the College level since 1973. He retired from Citrus College in Glendora CA in 2017. He won 1st place in the Welsh Eisteddfod Piano Competition in 1964 and has a bachelor's degree in Music Education and a master's degree in Choral Conducting from BYU and Cal State Fullerton. He has also published other pieces with Jackman Music.

The lyrics and music to the hymn “Abide with Me; ’Tis Eventide” were heavily influenced by the American Civil War. Both the writer of the lyrics, Martin Lowrie Hofford, and the composer of the music, Harrison Millard, held positions in the Union forces and felt the widespread loss and sorrow that the war brought.
