Song background:
A Witness for Jesus Christ is taken from a collection of songs called The Prophets Songbook which contains 17 songs of our modern-day prophets and themes from their presidency. This song was written to hightlight a teaching of President John Taylor. He was the only President of the church who was born in England. He was one of ten children.
John Taylor felt an impression to come to America and following that prompting was introduced to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Shortly after that, he was baptized.
John Taylor had a reputation for being a man of great courage in defending the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Lyrics: I will stand as a witness of truth at all times,
And I'll boldly teach it too.
I will always follow the Savior;
His life shows me what I should do.
I'll be a witness for Jesus Christ in all places where I reside.
