More about Mandi Miller:
I am a wife and a mother of six children, and I have a love for music and harmony. It has brought me much joy, peace, and comfort throughout my life. My hope is that my music will be sung and enjoyed in much the same way!
This song celebrates the continuing bond between parents and their adult children.
The formatting and title may remind you of "A Child's Prayer". As I wrote previous versions of the lyrics, I thought it would be really neat to have this be almost a conversation, rather than from just one perspective. I wondered what the parent's words would be (as I do not yet have adult children). I considered having a sequential song or a duet, but I did thnk of "A Child's Prayer" and thought it would be a neat challenge to create something like that with the theme I had chosen. I decided to have the parent's part be a prayer. While I may not yet have all the wisdom to advise adult children, I could project myself into the future to know what might be in my prayers for my children.
Lyrics: Heavenly Father,
Please keep my kids safe.
Help them be happy,
and hold onto faith.
Help them to reach
Their most treasured dreams.
Help them to feel
Thy love through me.
Dear Mother, Remember
That you raised us strong.
We know we can do it,
When you cheer us on.
At times we may stumble,
But we're not alone,
We're bound to our Savior.
He'll lead us home.
