Description

Every time I hear the melody line of this beautiful hymn, I feel calmer & more peaceful. The lovely lyrics were written by Henry Francis Lyte, an Angelican minister as he visited a dying friend. Every time I sing the words, I remember our God who never changes and who is always there for each of us.

“Abide with me! fast falls the eventide;
The darkness deepens. Lord, with me abide!
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, oh, abide with me!”

Written for an early advanced pianist, this piece begins in F Major but moves to C Major for the last verse. Phrases markings are written in with a few dynamic markings but performers are encouraged to apply their own throughout. Lots of sixteenth notes and arpeggiated runs with a few hand crossovers throughout. May this piece bring your heart peace and comfort too.
